Transfer to the ‘Big Four’

4 young people who graduated from Faculty of Business, Izmir University of Economics (IUE) quickly climbed the ladder of success and transferred to the 4 largest companies in the world in the field of financial auditing. The biggest goal of IUE graduates, who work in Istanbul and Izmir offices of companies called 'EY', 'PwC', 'KPMG' and 'Deloitte', which are known as the 'Big Four' in the international arena, is to carry their success abroad.

Veysel Yeğin (33), a graduate of IUE Department of Business Administration, works as an audit manager in the Istanbul office of the Netherlands-based KPMG company. Yeğin, who has been selected among hundreds of people in his field and reached the top level, continues his duty as a manager successfully. Merve Bora (32), a graduate of IUE Department of Business Administration, is a senior audit manager at Deloitte, based in the United States (USA). Bora, who has made a difference in her field, sets an example for her successors.

GOING GLOBAL

Hazal Gül (23), a graduate of IUE Department of Accounting and Auditing, works as an audit assistant in the Izmir office of UK-based EY. Burak Tarakçı (25), who graduated from the same department, continues his career as an audit specialist in the Istanbul office of the London-based company PwC. Stating that they are at the point they aim at, Gül and Tarakçı aim to continue their success in the international arena by going global.

KPMG audit Manager Veysel Yeğin: “It is an honor to be a manager in one of the 4 largest companies in the world in the field of financial auditing. We audit many domestic or foreign companies/holdings in the production and service sector. After graduation, I am at a point that I aimed for and wanted. The advanced foreign language education at the University I received and my going to Denmark with the Erasmus program contributed significantly to me.”

Deloitte Senior Audit Manager Merve Bora: “I work at our company's headquarters in Izmir. However, we are working on many companies not only in Izmir but also in Turkey. STAY ON TARGET, AIM FOR MORE

PwC Audit Specialist Burak Tarakçı: “I have been working at PwC for three years. I chose to go to Istanbul after graduating from university. PwC was a company I always wanted to work for. I can say that I am doing a job that I love. It's very important to have confidence in yourself and go after your goal no matter what. When you know what you want and focus on it, it is possible to achieve success no matter what business it is. Of course, I still have a long way to go. I aim to develop myself further and go global.”

I WAS EMPLOYED BEFORE I GRADUATED

EY Audit Assistant Hazal Gül: “I graduated from university this year. But my employment goes back a long time. I started working at EY before I got my diploma in order to get to know the sector with the guidance of my professors. I stayed here after graduation. As an audit assistant, I take part in the audit team of companies in different industries. It is a great advantage to enter the business life without waiting. I want to keep going up at EY.”
